ENGLISH AND ICT

This blog has started as a part of a course in CEP Inca to provide teachers with a range of tools we can use in our classrooms in order to make the digital world as a source of motivation for students. Portfolios, blogs, wikis, digital storytelling, podcasts, calendars; these are some of the words I have become familiar with in the course. I've been suprised about the incredibly huge amount of wonderful tools which can be exploited to practise every language skill in class or at home. Technology is nowadays a useful, common and even necessary form of communication and we have to be aware of the possibilities and advantages that are offered to us. These four days I've been able to realise that  technology does make learning an engaging experience indeed, not only useful for language, but also for developing the sense of creativity required to be able to share with others our own unique individualities and make learning a holistic and meaningful experience. This blog  is just the first step in exploring the exciting new kinds in which ICT can help us achieving this.

If Wishes Were Fishes.
This is a story I created using 'storybird', an enjoyable and easy way to use digital storytelling. Select from hundreds of lovely drawings and use your imagination to have the experience of being a true writer. 'Storybird' also allows for collaborative writing and teachers can even set assignments and deadlines.

Happy Valentine's Day Grandma!

Why a new blog when there there are so many and such marvellous ones? Well, first of all, because this is a task I've been assigned  ;-) Most of all, because everybody learns by doing, and I I find that as a teacher I need a place to experience the whole range of possibilities that the TIC and the Internet offers; videos, podcasts, digital storytelling and whatever else we can discover that can be useful and fun in our class.
